Wreck Yourself Wednesday 8/27/08

August 27th, 2008 by Nate

For various lame reasons, very few people showed up to wreck today, so we drove over to the gym to throw some iron around.

The Workout:
Two rounds of light barbell complex (we want to warm up, not make this half the workout)
Barbell Complex: six reps each in succession of deadlift, bent row, hang clean, front squat, push press, back squat, pushups on the bar.

Bench Press: 4-5 sets working up to maximum (Nate: #235, Dan: #265, Lin: #75)

Six rounds of:
Squat Cleans: 5 reps (raise weight each round)
Push Press: 7 reps
Bench Press: 5 reps (75% of max)

Optional: set or two of super-slow (8 second) pullups

Three rounds of:
Decline medicine ball situps: 20 reps
Dips: 10 reps

Lifting dumbbells is useless. Real men lift things that are HARD to lift, like large rocks, refrigerators, truck tires (or trucks if you’re manly enough). When these objects are in short supply, real men solo climb large rock formations and/or mountains/buildings. Exercising with air conditioning, gloves, any clothing that was purchased purely for the occasion of working out…not manly. What’s even worse is working out in a location with mirrors for watching the muscle oil sparkle on other men’s evenly tanned flesh.
